Friday, Happy Hour

The GCD happy hour is coming back. This time, people are trying to make it more appealing to the faculty, students and staff by expanding it into two rooms and of course with more food and drink. My biggest wish is to have more beers and more brand of beers. Last year, the greedy cafeteria only serves three types of beer packages: Domestic, Imported and Mix. That is bullshit. We should be able to choose exactly what we want. I want to see my favorite Corona, UFO and Samuel Adams. Approximately 3 hours later, I hope the first happy hour live up to my expectation.

明天到UIUC

将要进行两年的UIUC旅行在明天拉开序幕。早上5:20从波士顿出发，7点钟到芝加哥，然后换乘9点的汽车，3小时后到达UIUC。以前我认为Ithaca就是最难走的地方了，现在发现UIUC还要难走一些。不光是旅行时间长，而且时间安排极其不灵活，车费贵得吓死人。

开机6天，每天运行数小时，不停休眠，唤醒，速度一样快，爽～～～

天气好，骑车到学校

反正星期天都没有车，坐地铁还不如骑车，天气如此之好。每个周日，河边的路都封了不让汽车过，专门方便波士顿人骑车，也算是方便了我，从河边过去要近很多。下午到学校，买杯星巴克就在办公室里面看书做作业，享受longwood的安静。

终于可以进入实验室了

找来找去找了接近20天，终于定下来要去哪个实验室做第一轮的rotation。今天下午跟教授详细谈了一下我要做的项目，然后讨了一点review回来消化，现在终于把相关的东西大概搞清楚了。明天上午就去跟研究生讨论具体的试验设计。估计下周就可以真正开始做了。实验的主要性质还是cell culture，目的在于搞清楚一个信号转导途径上的feedback inhibition具体有哪些蛋白参与。

明天早上还要去参加必选的seminar。发的paper在昨天读了一下，本来说今天再读一下强化，现在看来没有时间了，留到明天早上坐车的时候再看。

now it's harder to choose between imac and macbook pro

Today, Apple, inc. announced the all new series of iMac. The overall design though has not been changed, the aluminum case and glassy front panel definitely are eye-popping. With a comparable configuration and aggressive pricing, the debate between iMac and macbook pro is complicated. The price difference seems to justify the inability of iMac to be portable. Therefore, I need to re-evaluate my mobile needs before making my final decision. Of course, the ideal situation is to put an iMac in the office and a macbook pro on-the-go, but it's just too costly and such combination would burn out my stipend given that I am also planning to get an iphone. Well, being an Apple fanboy is simply horrible. However, as I am already on such way, I'd say, I am actively seeking financing possibilities to solve my dilemma.
